Hues of Varanasi
Varanasi, one of the world's oldest living cities, is rightly called the religious capital of India. It rests on the left bank of the holy river Ganga, and is one of the seven most sacred sites for Hindus. Varanasi offers a different experience to every visitor. The gentle waters of the Ganga, the boat ride at sunrise, the high banks of the ancient ghats, the array of shrines – each offers a mesmerising experience that is unique to the city of Shiva. I have photographed Varanasi during the festival of Dev Diwali in 2017. On this day, all the 87 ghats of Varanasi are lit up with thousands of diyas.
